Man poisons dog to death, arrested
Salem: Police on Tuesday arrested a 47-year-old man for poisoning a dog to death at Athanoorpatty near Vazhapady. The accused has been identified as S Kumar, 47, of Athanoorpatty.Vazhapadi police inspector S Uma Shankar said the president of the Almighty Animal Care Trust, M Vignesh, on Monday lodged a complaint against Kumar. In his complaint, Vignesh alleged that Kumar poisoned a dog to death. Vignesh also submitted a video of the incident to police.Police registered a case under Section 429 of IPC, read with Section 11(1) of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960 and arrested Kumar. The accused was lodged at the district prison in Attur under judicial custody. tnn
