DHARMAPURI: A 32-year-old man was stabbed to death by his neighbour at Petthur in Dharmapuri district following a dispute between the two families over taking drinking water from a public tap.
The murdered man has been identified as S Venkateswaran. The Pappireddipatti police said an argument broke out between Venkateswaran’s wife, Nevethika, and neighbour Ilavarasan’s wife, Radhika, on Tuesday. Later, Ilavarasan, who was drunk, confronted Nevethika. Venkateswaran intervened, and Ilavarasan allegedly stabbed him on the neck with a knife.
Relatives took Venkateswaran to Dharmapuri Government Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The Pappireddipatti police registered a case.
