COIMBATORE: The city police on Thursday arrested three more people in connection with the theft of 840g

gold jewellery

from an employee of a

gold ornament manufacturing unit

and recovered 150g ornaments from them.

The arrested people were identified as Selvakumar, 19, from Theni, Vijayakumar, 44, from Chettipalayam and Prithviraj, 19, from Othakalmandapam. They were lodged in the

A motorcycle-borne gang had waylaid B Ramamurthy, 58, working in a gold jewellery manufacturing unit on Raja Street on Tuesday near Ramar Kovil temple at Ram Nagar and had decamped with 840g ornaments.

Police had arrested Daniel, 35, his wife Sangeetha, 30, of Theni, Badrinath, 28, of Sullivan street and Raja, 25, of Theni in connection with the case and had recovered 690g of the stolen jewellery from them.

City police commissioner Sumit Sharan congratulated the officers, who cracked the case and felicitated them with certificates.
