Four killed in multiple-vehicle crash near Hosur
Krishnagiri: Four people died after six vehicles were involved in a multiple-crash at Perandapalli near Hosur in Krishnagiri district early on Sunday morning.Police said around 3am on Sunday, traffic in Perandapalli area was disrupted due to a flyover construction, forcing vehicles to move at a slow pace. A goods truck held up in the traffic suddenly rammed a car, which was in front of it. In the impact, the car hit a pickup truck, leading to multiple crashes involving a container truck, another car, and an excavator. "The first car which got wedged between the goods truck and the pickup van, was crushed, killing all four occupants on the spot," said P Thangadurai, superintendent of police, Krishnagiri district. The deceased have been identified as P Manivannan, 27, from Omalur in Salem district; M Mukilan, 30, also from Omalur in Salem district; T Madhan Kumar, 28, from Erode district; and K Gokul, 28, from Kannankurichi in Salem district. Manivannan who was working in Canada had returned to India on Saturday night. Mukilan drove to Bengaluru airport along with his friends Madhan Kumar and Gokul to pick up his relative Manivannan. "The accident occurred when they were on their way back to Salem," the SP said.Hosur Hudco police recovered the bodies from the wreckage and shifted them to the government hospital in Hosur for postmortem. A case has been registered, and further probe is on.
