Salem: The fourth edition of FIT-India school week was held at the Cluny Matriculation Higher Secondary School here from December 9 to 18. Hundreds of students from various schools participated in the event. On Sunday, the school principal flagged off a fitness awareness run. Later, students participated in a mass drill.
Earlier, games and drawing competitions were conducted for the students.
The event, which was organized by the district training centre of Sports Authority of India (SAI), also featured a yoga performance by students and a taekwondo training demonstration by coach K Karthikeyan. International basketball player Raja Priyadarshini participated as the chief guest and handed over medals to the first three winners of various competitions.
Manjula, assistant director of SAI, said, “Through this event, we created awareness about the importance of physical fitness among the school students.” tnn
