Namakkal: A youth was arrested on Saturday night for posting derogatory remarks against women on social media and threatening to kill the ones entering into inter-caste marriages in his village.The Veppadai police identified the arrested person as P Vinoth, 26, a coolie from Nettavelampalayam. "Vinoth posted a video on social media, making casteist remarks and threatening to kill women entering into inter-caste marriages in his village."A few women in the locality lodged a complaint with the Veppadai police, requesting action against Vinoth. When police attempted to take him to the station for questioning, he fled and fell, sustaining a minor injury. He then posted another video on social media, claiming that the injury was sustained in a police attack.Senior police officials subsequently summoned Vinoth to the station for questioning. He was later booked for derogatory remarks against women, issuing threats against them and spreading false claims that police had assaulted him. Police arrested him on Saturday night.Vinoth was produced before the Kumarapalayam court, which remanded him in judicial custody. He was lodged in the Salem Central prison on Sunday morning.Vinoth was arrested a month ago for making similar offensive comments about women. He was later released on bail.
