COIMBATORE: The accused in the Pollachi twin rape case, V Veeran alias Veerasamy, 23, was produced before the district mahila court here in the city on Friday a which has extended his judicial custody to July 10.
Veerasamy, who had raped two minor girls at Pollachi two weeks ago, was arrested by the Pollachi All Women Police and he was produced before a judicial magistrate court in Pollachi.
The court had remanded him to judicial custody after which he was lodged at Coimbatore Central Prison. Meanwhile, the judicial magistrate court allowed him to take potency test last week.
The case had then been transferred to the session's court a few days ago. Veerasamy was produced before the district mahila court judge MP Subramanian on Friday who extended the remand till July 10. He was then taken back to Coimbatore Central Prison.
Pollachi all women police were asked to file details of the case before the Mahila court. Meanwhile, the police also decided to file charge sheet within 60 days of the rape incident. Public prosecutor, R Sarojini is going to appear for the rape survivors. Already Pollachi Bar Association decided not to appear for the rape case accused.
On June 12, Veerasamy entered the Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church (TELC) children's home abducted two girls and raped them on the terrace of a commercial complex near the hostel. He was arrested two days later by the police.
