Coimbatore RPF officers save boy choking on candy in train

COIMBATORE: Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials saved a boy who was choking on a candy on the Mettupalayam-Podanur MEMU train on Monday afternoon.According to sources, Selvalakshmi and her two-year-old son M Dev Athiran boarded Mettupalayam Junction - Podanur Junction MEMU train at Karamadai station. The boy swallowed a candy, which got stuck in his throat. The child began bleeding from his nose and lost consciousness. Passengers on the train sought help from RPF officers on the train. RPF inspector Sunil Kumar and assistant sub-inspector Sajini of the Coimbatore Railway sub-division rushed to the rescue. After a few minutes of struggle, they successfully removed the candy from the child's throat and saved him.When the train reached Coimbatore station, the boy was taken to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a check-up, sources added.
