COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police commissioner distributed free helmets to two-wheeler riders to raise awareness about helmet use.
As part of National Road Safety Week 2026, which is being observed between Jan 11 and 17, the city police are organising various road safety awareness programmes. On Wednesday morning, police commissioner D Kannan distributed free helmets to those who were riding two-wheelers without helmets. He highlighted the importance of wearing helmets and told the two-wheeler riders who were not wearing helmets that they should wear helmets, failing which action would be taken against them.
Helmets were sponsored by Home Guards area commander C S Vigneshwar.
