COIMBATORE: The owners of hotels, resorts, guest houses, service apartments and paying accommodations have been instructed to report details of their foreign guests to the city police.
A meeting was convened by the city police at the commissionerate on Thursday to explain the provisions of Immigration and Foreigners Act 2025, which came into force in September this year. According to the Act, the management of hotels, resorts, guest houses, service apartments, and paying accommodations must properly maintain Form II and Form III, which are mandatory for all foreign guests.
City police commissioner A Saravana Sundar explained the documents that need to be collected from foreign guests and uploaded to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) website. He instructed them that the documents of foreigners staying at these establishments must be submitted to the police, as well. A fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed on the hotel management if it fails to inform the police about foreign guests.
City deputy commissioners of police N Devanatha, G Karthikeyan and M P Dhivya were present at the meeting. More than 50 representatives of hotels, resorts, guest houses, service apartments, paying accommodations and institutions participated in the meeting.
