Coimbatore: The pothole-ridden service roads along the approach road leading to the Coimbatore airport will be repaired soon, municipal corporation commissioner

Sunkara said.
The badly damaged roads were one of the topics of the airport advisory committee meeting held on Wednesday.
Work to repair the potholes will begin in 10 days, the commissioner said. “It will take some time to lay new roads. The Tamil Nadu water supply and drainage board (TWAD), which has taken up some work in the area, will take some more time to complete it. Once they complete the work, a new road will be laid,” he said.
Residents of the locality, who welcomed the plan, heaved a sigh of relief. Commuting regularly through the roads leads to back pain, they said.
Those staying in residential areas near the airport use the approach road to the facility, instead of using the damaged service roads. The roads have been in a really bad condition for a long time, said G Manickam of Brindavan Nagar. “When I use my two-wheeler, I take the approach road. While four-wheelers of residents are not allowed on the approach road, we have no other choice,” he told TOI.
The residents had requested corporation officials to repair the road several times, said P K Vincent, another resident. “They promised to solve the issue, but did nothing. We are eagerly waiting for the work to start,” he added.
