44-year-old man stabs wife’s lover to death

The deceased was identified as A Gobi alias Kumaravel, of

North Street

at Keeranatham. His wife had died a decade ago.

An assistant to a cable TV operator, Kumaravel used to frequent a tea shop at Keeranatham, where he befriended the shop owner Ramachandran’s wife 10 years ago. Later, the duo developed an affair.

A couple of months ago, Ramachandran, 44, came to know about the relationship and physically assaulted his 40-year-old wife and warned her to end the affair. However, she didn’t pay heed.

Two days ago, Ramachandran, in a fit of rage, beat up his wife. When Kumaravel came to know about this, he fought with Ramachandran and warned him not to assault her. Irked, he decided to finish off Kumaravel.

On Saturday evening, Ramachandran took Kumaravel to a Tasmac bar, where they picked up a fight. Ramachandran stabbed Kumaravel repeatedly till he died and fled.

Police said Kumaravel was stabbed in the left side of the chest five times.

Local people informed the Saravanampatti police, who sent the body to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem.

The police have registered a case against Ramachandran under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him. Further investigation is on.
