Woman, son die after bus rams bike

Chennai: An elderly woman and her son died after a speeding omnibus hit their bike at Maraimalai Nagar in Chengalpet on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident occurred at 9.45 am. The deceased have been identified as R Saravanan,47, and his mother Thilagavathy, 67, of Maraimalai Nagar.
Saravanan was taking his mother to a hospital. They took a U-turn near the municipality office and were riding towards the city when the accident took place.
A private bus which came from behind hit their vehicle and ran over them.Saravanan died on the spot and his mother who was critically injured was rushed to a private hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Their bodies were sent to Government General Hospital Chengalpattu for postmortem.
Police registered a case and are searching for the driver of the bus.
