MADURAI: A man attacked a 20-year-old girl working in a photocopy shop in Y Othakadai because she spurned his advances. The incident happened on November 17, and the Othakadai police filed a complaint against the man and are looking for him.
Youth attacks girl for spurning his advances
The accused, Siddhik Raja, 25, went to the shop where the girl, Lavanya, worked on Sunday along with one of his relatives and demanded to know why she stopped talking to him. Although they knew each other since school, she avoided him for the last five months after a difference of opinion, said police sources.
However, he constantly harassed her over the phone to talk to him. He went to the shop on Sunday and kept demanding that she love him, but she sternly refused. Enraged, he attacked her with his fist repeatedly, and she fainted.
Neighbours rushed to her help while Siddhik fled from the spot. She was rushed to Government Rajaji Hospital and was treated.
Based on her complaint, Y Othakadai police filed a complaint, and the accused went into hiding. A hunt is on, said police.
