Vijay flayed for deteriorating law and order in Tamil Nadu, delay in launching Singapen striking force
CHENNAI: Targeting the Tamil Nadu govt over deteriorating law and order, DMK deputy general secretary Kanimozhi and AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran pulled up chief minister C Joseph Vijay for putting the launch of the 'Singapen striking force' on the backburner. The special force was originally scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday.
Slamming the TVK-led administration over a recent spate of heinous crimes against women and children, Kanimozhi asked when would the govt crack down on the rising crime rate.
"A young woman was brutally murdered and buried in Cuddalore, while a youth was hacked to death by his own friends over a casual wordy quarrel. Such heinous crimes are happening one after the other in the state, and it is a major cause for concern," Kanimozhi said, citing media reports. She demanded clarity on the concrete steps being taken by the administration to prevent such atrocities
She questioned the reason behind the stalled launch of the TVK’s flagship scheme - Singapen special force.
Echoing her sentiments, AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran came down heavily on the CM for failing to roll out the govt's own flagship women-safety initiative, wondering how the current regime expects to ensure the safety of women and children in the state.
"If the Singapen special force is only going to be inaugurated after the appointment of a new DGP (L&O), what is the necessity of having an administration that chooses to indulge in horse-trading instead of policing?" Dhinakaran asked.
On Friday, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal was appointed as the director general of police (DGP) and head of police force of Tamil Nadu.
