CHENNAI: The families of the workers who died in the fire accident in Gummidipoondi were inconsolable on Saturday. They had lost their sole breadwinners. The fourth son of Pitchai Kani and Rajeswari, he had taken up the job to run the family.
Pitchai Kani is a daily wage labourer and Rajeswari is a homemaker. Lakshmanan’s three brothers are jobless. “I don’t know how the family will now survive,” said Jayabalan.
Prabhu, the other victim, had completed ITI before joining the company. His uncle Sivakumar, who works in the same company, had introduced him to the management. Sivakumar said, “Prabhu came to work only to take care of his hearing impaired sister Prabha and the rest of the family. His father Sekar is a labourer and mother Vembu a homemaker. “The family has lost its last ray of hope,” Sivakumar said.
