Vengavayal: HC gives 4 weeks to submit report

Chennai: Madras high court has directed the one-man judicial inquiry commission, appointed by it to probe the Vengavayal incident, to file its report within four weeks.The first bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Vijaykumar Gangapurwala and Justice P D Audikesavalu passed the order to this effect on Monday. On March 29, the HC appointed retired judge of the court Justice M Sathyanarayanan as one-man commission to probe into the Vengavayal incident. The court passed the order on a PIL moved by advocate K Rajkamal seeking to transfer the investigation from the CB-CID to CBI. The bench called for a report from the commission as expeditiously as possible and directed the state government to provide all the necessary support. However, when the plea came up for hearing on Monday, counsel for the commission submitted that it needed some more time to file the report. Recording the same, the court granted four more weeks and adjourned the hearing.
