Chennai: Deputy CM
Udhayanidhi Stalin on Wednesday made a veiled attack on
BJP and right-wing outfits, accusing them of spreading fake messages on social media.
"A fascist group in India is spreading fake messages on social media on a full time basis. I need not name them. Through these fake messages, their intention is to confuse people," Udhayanidhi said at the valedictory function of a three-day social media awareness programme for NSS students in Chennai.
Udhayanidhi said that there were two types of rumours, one was misinformation and the other was disinformation.

"While misinformation is spread without any intentions, the disinformation has motives, which is dangerous. Along with both misinformation and disinformation, hate speeches are made targeting the minorities," he charged.
"Three years back I participated in a meeting in which I said all are equal by birth but my remarks were misinterpreted and fake news were spread that I instigated genocide following which two Godmen placed a price for my head. They sought apology from me but I refused," he said.
