TVK will form the next government in Tamil Nadu, says Vijay

CHENNAI: Ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) held a high-security election meeting on Friday at Seelanayakkanpatti in Salem, where party chief Vijay addressed a gathering of over 5k people.

At the rally, Vijay described TVK as “100 per cent pure force” and said the party will form the government, fulfilling the people’s aspirations. He asked, “If people are happy, why protests being staged by many including sanitary and anganwadi workers?”





Vijay said the people’s aspiration is to bring TVK to power and dislodge the DMK. He criticised the ruling party for asking people to “tell your dreams” after five years in power. Referring to his earlier “share in power” assurance at a previous TVK rally, he said it had turned into a ‘political bomb’, leaving CM Stalin “rattled.” He also slammed the government for not appointing a DGP and criticised the DMK regime over law and order.

Responding to criticism of the party’s inexperience, Vijay said, “We have no experience in looting.” He promised good governance with the support of officials, stating, “I will do it.”

At the meeting, Vijay also called on the crowd to take a pledge:

“My vote is my right. No one can buy us. Our vote is for whistle.”

The event was organised strictly as a permitted internal meeting, with only individuals holding QR-coded entry passes allowed inside. Party functionaries, including General Secretary N Anand, General Secretary (Election Management) Aadhav Arjuna, and Executive Committee Chief Coordinator KA Sengottaiyan, inspected the arrangements and addressed the media following their inspection.

Members of the public without passes were asked not to attend and to watch the programme via live television broadcasts. Authorities appealed for full cooperation in following the regulations.

Heavy police security was deployed in and around the venue, with officers conducting vehicle checks at key entry points. Traffic diversions and temporary road restrictions were imposed in Seelanayakkanpatti and the KVP Garden area during the event hours, and the public was advised to use alternative routes to reduce congestion.

Officials said the measures were aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety during the high-profile political event.
