TN woman suffering from depression kills daughter, attempts suicide
TIRUVANNAMALAI: A 28-year-old
A police officer said Suganya, 28, was married to Kalaiarasan, 35, a farmer in Keezhsirupakkam village. They had a daughter, Nivetha, 6.
In a statement to the police, Suganya said she had been dealing with depression since the time she found her mother-in-law's dead body in a bathroom. Her mother-in-law had committed suicide by hanging.
On Sunday evening, when Kalaiarasan returned home from his farmland, he found his wife and daughter missing. Later, he found his wife and daughter lying in a pool of blood in a the bathroom in the backyard of the house.
The mother and daughter were rushed to the Government Tiruvannamalai Medical College and Hospital.
Doctors declared Nivetha dead and Suganya, whose throat was slit, was referred to a government hospital in Chennai.
On Monday, Tiruvannamalai rural DSP Hemachitra and Thanrampattu inspector Dhanalakshmi visited the spot and conducted an investigation.
The inspector said, “Suganya is said to be depressed and haunted by bad dreams since spotting her mother-in-law's dead body. We have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) and are conducting further investigations."
