Chennai: Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University has won the coveted Justice V R Krishna Iyer trophy for all-India moot court competition in Thiruvananthapuram.
Team members Gopika Sasidharan, Sneha Pradeep and Nivedita Menon from School of Excellence in Law, TN Dr Ambedkar Law University were given the cash prize and trophies at the end of the two-day event, by Justice Muhammed Mushtaq of the Kerala high court.
The moot court problem was about the right to conduct public meetings on the side of roads, which political parties claim as part of constitutional right of freedom of assembly and speech. The petitioners contended that there was no constitutional right to conduct meetings on roadsides, as the road margins were intended only for pedestrians and other members of the public.
The team led by Gopika Sasidharan contested against 33 teams, which include National Law School, Odissa and Amity School of Law, Delhi.
