TN govt says kallar reclamation schools won’t be integrated with school education dept

CHENNAI: The backward classes, most backward classes and minorities welfare department has said that there is no move to integrate the kallar reclamation schools with the school education department.

There are 299 kallar reclamation schools in the state. These schools are in Theni, Madurai and Dindigul districts where there is a large population of piramalai kallars.

A report from the department said reports in the media that these schools would be integrated with the school education department was false.

“The govt will only look at developing these schools,” the release added.

It said the govt was implementing many special schemes to ensure that the students, predominantly those belonging to the piramalai kallar community, had access to good education, health and English medium learning.
