CHENNAI: On the Occasion of the 75th Independence Day, the Chennai-based Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) set a world record by painting 5,000 Indian national flags on August 11, at Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Thandalam.

The event was coordinated by Saveetha School of Law.

This event is marked a world record registered with International Book of Record in the presence of Dr NM Veeraiyan, founder and chancellor, SIMATS, A Nazir Ahamed, district judge, S John J Raja Singh, additional government pleader, High Court of Madras.

The vice-chancellor, director of academics, deans of constituent colleges of SIMATS graced the occasion with their presence. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
