Tamil Nadu registration dept posts ‘substantial growth’ in revenue
CHENNAI: The registration department's revenue for the ongoing financial year 2024-2025 reached Rs 14,525 crore as of Dec 11, marking an increase of Rs 1,891 crore compared to Rs 12,634 crore for the same period last year.
Minister for commercial taxes and registration P Moorthy chaired a review meeting at the integrated commercial taxes and registration department conference hall in Nandanam on Thursday. The meeting evaluated the performance of deputy registrars, district registrars, district revenue officers/deputy collectors (stamps) and assistant executive engineers for November 2024.
The minister commended department officials for achieving substantial revenue growth and asked them to continue their efforts to meet the year-end targets. He attributed the increase to the department's efficiency and reforms aimed at streamlining registration processes.
Highlighting another achievement, the minister praised the high percentage of documents being returned on the same day of registration across most sub-registrar offices. He directed sub-registrars to maintain this level of performance and instructed district registrars and deputy registration heads to oversee and ensure excellence in the process.
