KRISHNAGIRI: A Krishnagiri resident named K Mahendran, 28, said to be an ardent supporter of TVK party leader Vijay, attempted suicide by slitting his throat after hearing rumours that the actor would lose the assembly election. The incident occurred just before the counting of votes began.
According to police, Mahendran was severely distressed and cut his own throat while standing near his home.
"Onlookers rescued him and took him to Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital, where he is receiving intensive treatment," said an officer at the Krishnagiri town police station.
