VILLUPURAM: Police on Friday booked
BJP state president L Murugan, DMDK leader Premalatha
Vijayakanth and around 80 workers and functionaries of different political parties for defying lockdown orders and assembling in large numbers in front of the house of J Jayashree, a 15-year-old girl who was burnt to death by two AIADMK workers at Sirumadurai village in Villupuram district.
A police officer said more than 20 functionaries of BJP, headed by
Tamil Nadu unit president L Murugan, visited Jayashree's home in Sirumadurai village on Thursday and handed over Rs1 lakh to her father Jayabal.
On the same day, more than nine functionaries of Indian Union Muslim League and Manitha Neya Makkal Kazhagam visited Jayashree's home and consoled her family members.
On Thursday, around 30 functionaries of DMDK, led by party leader Premalatha Vijayakanth, visited Jayashree's home, and handed over Rs1 lakh to her family members.
The Tiruvennainallur police registered cases against more than 80 members of four political parties. As many as 25 people have been named in the FIR. The remaining were mentioned as unknown accused.
Five CPI cadres, including Its district secretary of Villupuram A V Saravanan, were also booked for visiting Jayashree's house .
They were booked under relevant Sections of IPC, Epidemic Disease Act and the Disaster Management Act.
