Tamil Nadu assembly election 2026: DMK forms poll manifesto committee

CHENNAI: DMK has formed a 12-member committee to prepare the poll manifesto for the 2026 assembly election in Tamil Nadu. The team will be headed by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.

The team has a blend of experience in the form of DMK spokesman T K S Elangovan, traders wing vice-president Govi Chezhian, DMK spokesman Constantine Raveendran, industries minister T R B Rajaa and state planning commission member N Ezhilan. The team has three functionaries with doctorates, including IT minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, and members from various fields such as party environmental wing secretary Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, Dream Tamil Nadu convenor Suresh Sammandham, DMK NRI wing secretary M M Abdullah, retired IAS officer G Santhanam and MLA Tamilarasi Ravikumar.

In a statement, party general secretary Duraimurugan said that the team would travel across the state, hold meetings with various welfare associations, traders wing, youth, farmers associations, labourers associations, organisations allied with the DMK and the general public.

In the 2021 assembly election, the DMK gave 505 poll promises, and there were several debates on the number of poll promises fulfilled by the govt. DMK appointed Kanimozhi as the head of the poll manifesto committee in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections too, in which the DMK swept all the 39 seats in the state.
