Tamil film actress hangs herself at her residence

CHENNAI: A 26-year-old Kollywood actress committed suicide at her house in Valasaravakkam on Wednesday. The reason for her suicide is yet to be ascertained. She didn’t leave any suicide note at her house, police said.
The actress was identified as Riyamikka, a resident of Sridevi Kuppam in Valasaravakkam.
Police said she played some lead roles in Tamil movies Kundrathile Kumaranuku Kondattam and Aghori-yin Attam Aarambam.
Police said Riyamikka and her brother Prakash have been staying together at the rented house for the past four months. Prakash told police that he saw his sister last when she came home on Tuesday morning.
Prakash tried to reach his sister on her mobile several times on Wednesday. He went back home with Riyamikka’s boyfriend Dinesh on Wednesday evening to check on her. They found the door was locked. Prakash used spare key and went inside the house only to see her hanging dead inside her bedroom.
On information, the Valasaravakkam police rushed to the place and recovered the woman’s body. They sent the body to the Government Royapettah Hospital for autopsy. They have registered a case under Cr PC Section 174 (unnatural death) and further investigations are on.
