CHENNAI: Monday is going to be windy and cold as squally wind caused by cyclone Phethai is expected to bring down the temperature well below 30ºC. Chances of rain for the city is less as the cyclone has started to move away, said a met department official. Forecast, however, says there is a chance of light to moderate rain in some places.
Sunday was the coldest day of the month with a maximum temperature of 25.3ºC, brought down by the winds.
The city will experience squally winds in the speed of 45 to 55kmph gusting at 65kmph on Monday, says a forecast.
With wind speed high, waves as tall as 3m to 3.4metres lashed the shores on Kasimedu and Marina on Sunday. The waves are expected to be stronger on Monday and the met department has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea. The cyclone is likely to cross the coast of Andhra between Machlipatnam and Kakinada.
