Stalin, ministers laud Tamil Nadu’s double-digit economic growth
Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin, finance minister Thangam Thennarasu and industries minister T R B Rajaa on Tuesday lauded Tamil Nadu's 10.8% economic growth rate for 2025-26.
According to the report released by Union ministry of statistics and programme implementation recently, this is the second consecutive year that the state is registering a double-digit growth rate, while the national average was lingering at 7.4%. Stalin said on X that a strong foundation paved the way for double-digit growth.
"Dravidian Model is distinct. Proven in numbers. We built the foundation in three years. Delivered two consecutive years of double-digit growth," Stalin said.
Thanking people of the state for the growth, the chief minister said, "This progress is powered by people of Tamil Nadu. Our thanks to your work and trust. This is only the beginning. With your support, the climb will accelerate," Stalin said. "We are not competing within India. Tamil Nadu will lead South Asia."
Thangam Thennarasu said on X that Stalin is the root cause for the growth. "It is the dream and relentless efforts of our chief minister, a leader with a visionary foresight, that shattered every obstacle and established Tamil Nadu as the leading state. From industrial growth and infrastructure to precise planning, it is the chief minister's demonstrated care across all sectors that has elevated our state to this pinnacle today," Thennarasu said.
The finance minister expressed confidence that under the leadership of Stalin, "growth champion", Tamil Nadu will achieve many more milestones under the next DMK govt.
Rajaa said on X that the double-digit growth for two consecutive years was attained without much drama.
"Not noise. Not propaganda. Just plain factual numbers. Tamil Nadu clocks 10.83% growth in 2025-26 following the 11.19% recorded in the previous year, leaving the national average of 7.4% far far behind," Rajaa said.
The industries minister accused BJP of "divisive policies". Rajaa said, "While some are busy dividing people, Tamil Nadu is busy multiplying prosperity. This is what happens when governance is driven by industry-first policies, social justice and stable leadership under Stalin. No shortcuts. No slogans. Just results." He added, "The Dravidian model doesn't just speak. It delivers."
