Aakash, who was restless, doused himself with petrol and also poured the fuel on her. As she ran to bedroom, he lit the lighter and threw it on the trail which engulfed Indhuja in the bedroom.
Aakash did his schooling with Indhuja and came to her house frequently.
Meanwhile, police obtained statements from Renuka and Nivedha, when they were at Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.
Police are likely to take him to custody.
