Sathankulam custodial deaths: Madras high court dismisses accused cop's bail plea

MADURAI

: The Madras high court on Thursday dismissed the

bail plea

of suspended Sathankulam police inspector

S Sridhar

, who was arrested for the custodial deaths of P Jeyaraj and his son J Beniks.

Justice V Bharathidasan dismissed the plea as the investigation is still in progress. Sridhar was one of the 10 policemen arrested in connection with the case.

During the previous hearing, the special public prosecutor for CBI cases stated that a false case had been registered against the father-son duo and they had been tortured by the policemen based on Sridhar's instigation, in his presence.

Jeyaraj's wife Selvarani filed an intervening petition in this case and objected to the grant of bail to Sridhar.
