CHENNAI: Optical fibre cables worth Rs 10 crore were gutted in a fire on the premises of Tamil Nadu Telecommunications Ltd in Maraimalai Nagar here on Monday night.
No one was injured in the accident.
Fire and rescue services personnel said an electric short circuit might have caused the blaze. Security guards noticed the fire at 7.40pm.
On being alerted, a posse of fire personnel rushed to the spot with fire tenders.

Foam tenders were also deployed as residents complained of eye irritation.
The fire was put out in a few hours.
The Maraimalai Nagar police registered a case.
