Rajya Sabha elections: P Chidambaram, five others elected unopposed from Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Former Union minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram and five others were elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu on Friday.
Returning officer K Srinivasan, who is the secretary of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, declared the six candidates -- S Kalyanasundaram, R Girirajan and K R N Rajeshkumar of the DMK, former minister C Ve Shanmugham and R Dharmar of the AIADMK and P Chidambaram of the Congress -- elected unopposed on the final day for the withdrawal of nominations.
DMK and AIADMK candidates received the certificates from the RO while MP Karthi Chidambaram received the certificate on behalf of his father.
