Police said Sheetal, 17, daughter of Ramlal, had gone missing since April 7. Sunil Patel, who was living close to the house of Sheetal, had fallen in love with her. The girl reciprocated his feelings and started meeting up with him regularly. They then decided to run away from Chennai. As per the plans, the duo fled to Rajasthan by train.
Sheetal's father, who was unaware about the relationship, lodged a missing complaint with the police. Police, during preliminary investigations, came to know about Sunil Patel and about their love story. However, the police could not make any breakthrough for the last four months as both the youngsters refused to get in touch with their relatives in Chennai.
However, the police subsequently traced a phone call to Rajasthan and located the youth. A special team from Seven Wells then went to Rajasthan and picked them up. They brought the girl and the two others to the city on Tuesday and handed over the girl to her parents.
Police said Sunil Patel had married Sheetal with the help of his uncle Ratanlal in Rajasthan. Since the girl is a minor, police registered a kidnap case against the youth and abetting charges against his uncle.
