New e-facility launched at Egmore police hospital

Chennai: As part of upgrading facilities at Egmore Police Hospital, state health minister Ma Subramanian on Friday launched ‘Kaavalar Nalan’, a hospital management software application developed at a cost of 45 lakh.
Until now, police personnel, their family members and retired personnel had to carry hard copies of their medical documents while arriving at Egmore for treatment. Now, an ID card with a unique number has been provided to them.
All their case history, medical advice, personal and treatment details, will be linked to this unique ID and the users can access this information remotely from a mobile app using their username and password.
Apart from this, police, who are unable to visit the hospital can use this app to make online appointments with doctors available at the hospital.
At the event, police commissioner Shankar Jiwal said this app would be a game-changer with laboratory test results, medical prescriptions, etc., getting computerised in no time for the benefit of police personnel.
