TRICHY: The TTV
Dhinakaran faction of the
AIADMK will have to find either a new venue or a new date to hold an anti-NEET protest in Trichy.
Dhinakaran on Sunday announced that he would hold a public rally on the Uzhavar Santhai ground in Trichy seeking permanent exemption for
Tamil Nadu from the
NEET.
However, the Trichy City Corporation has denied permission to the AIADMK Dhinakaran faction to hold the rally on the ground on September 16 citing that the venue had already been booked by another political party.
TTV supporters in Trichy alleged that permission was denied by officials over pressure from local ministers.
Former MLA R Manoharan, a TTV supporter, said they had approached the city police commissioner seeking permission for the rally. But the commissioner asked them to approach the civic body first to finalise the venue.
When they approached the corporation, the officials refused to give permission saying that the venue had already booked on the said same date.
“The venue has been booked by the Desiya Sirubanmainar Kazhagam,” said a senior corporation official. Permission would granted if they approach the corporation seeking permission to hold the rally on the ground on another date, said the official.
