CHENNAI: Notorious criminal ‘Neeravi’
Murugan, who was caught robbing a teacher at MCN Nagar in Thoraipakkam, was taken to police custody on Tuesday and was made to re-enact the scene at a few places in Madipakkam by cops.
Police have launched a manhunt for two more accomplices of Murugan. Sources said he had handed over the stolen jewellery to his friends at Nellai.
The special team, which has taken him on five days custodial interrogation, took him around Madipakkam to re-enact the crimes which he had confessed to have committed. Police have also obtained CCTV footages from the scene of crimes and are questioning him. “He even targeted elderly people who stayed alone at their homes. We believe he is involved in at least 50 cases in the city and its suburbs,” said a police officer.
Police are on the look-out for two of his accomplices, who, police believe, might know where Murugan has hidden his booty.
Murugan was seen escaping with the valuables in a bike on December 19, and the act was caught in a video by a neighbour. The footage went viral in social networking sites after which he was arrested.
