Navy to take out ‘Sea Riders Odyssey’ bike rally in Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: As part of Navy Day celebrations, the Indian Navy will take out a two-wheeler rally in Tamil Nadu starting Dec 4.
The Sea Riders Odyssey 2024 bike rally is organized by the Headquarters, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area, in collaboration with Royal Enfield, Orazo and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
The rally aims at spreading awareness about the Indian Navy’s vital role in national security while fostering pride and connection with the public.
Spanning 13 days and covering approximately 2,500 km across Tamil Nadu, the rally will see participants visiting schools, colleges, and heritage sites to engage with communities, promote the Navy’s values and showcase its contributions to the nation.
The grand finale will take place at INS Adyar, Chennai, on Dec 16. The rally will be received by the Flag Officer Commanding, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area.
The Sea Riders Odyssey is part of a broader effort by the Navy to rekindle maritime consciousness and inspire youth by highlighting India’s rich naval heritage.The Navy Day celebrations is observed annually on Dec 4 to honour the Indian Navy’s role in Operation Trident during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. This operation, marked by the sinking of four Pakistani vessels, including the PNS Khaibar, stands as a testament to the Navy’s strategic brilliance and courage.
This year, Navy Day’s main event will be held in Puri, Odisha, where President Droupadi Murmu will preside as the chief guest. The grand event will feature an Operational Demonstration with 24 warships and 40 aircraft, including a thrilling display of stealth operations by Marine Commandos (MARCOS), reaffirming the Navy’s readiness to safeguard the nation.
