Multiple-vehicle collision: 8 injured

Chennai: Eight people were injured on Monday night as an elderly person lost control of his car and hit motorists and pedestrians on Kilpauk Garden Road.
Police said Thomas, 75, was on his way back home after a medical check up at a hospital in Mylapore when the accident took place.
Thomas lost control and rammed an ambulance, which hit an autorickshaw, two bikes and two pedestrians. Thomas suffered injuries on his head and legs and was hospitalized.
Police identified the rest as Raji, 57, Hemalatha, 26, Babu, 47, Pratap, 27, Kanagaraj, 52, Senthil Ganesh, 47, and Yogesh, 25. Other motorists at the spot came to their rescue and rushed them to Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment. Anna Nagar traffic investigation police have registered a case on charges of rash and negligent driving on a public way and and are investigating.
