CHENNAI: A 34-year-old man, detained by the Virugambakkam police in connection with a theft case, died at a private hospital in Virugambakkam on Saturday evening. He had complained of chest pain at the police station.
Police sources said the deceased, Muthu, who was a resident of Pallikudam Street in Virugambakkam and worked in a hotel, was picked up from Vadapalani by the police after his friend Shahul Hameed, arrested on August 7 on charges of theft, informed the police that he had given the loot to Muthu.
