MADURAI: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences is likely to be established in
Madurai
which has all the prerequisites for setting up of such a hospital, said
BJP leader
Ila Ganeshan
on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters here, Ganeshan said he had met Union health minister J P Nadda recently and come to know that Madurai would most probably get the
AIIMS.
He said the central government was open to looking into all the recommendations of the state government on this issue. However, he said it looked like Madurai was the place which would get the hospital.
“I am from Thanjavur region. But I don’t know why Sengipatti in Thanjavur region has also been suggested for the hospital, except for the fact that it is nearer to Mannargudi,’’ he said, alluding to the Mannargudi family of AIADMK leader VK Sasikala.
