A medical bulletin issued by the hospital on Sunday night said the “vital signs are normalising” after a “transient setback” in his health condition.

Several DMK workers, who assembled outside the hospital on Sunday evening, spent the night there despite being asked to leave. Many of them slept on roadside platforms and road dividers.

As day broke, they started to shout slogans praising Karunanidhi. They were joined by others who came to the spot in the morning.

Police requested the DMK cadre to cooperate with patients coming to hospital and asked them not to cross barricades.

Using a public address system, a senior police officer appealed to them: “The cadre must know that this is a hospital, and you must behave accordingly.”

DMK functionaries helped police control the cadre.

Isha Yoga founder Jaggi Vasudev and several other VIPs visited the hospital on Monday morning.
