Lok Sabha elections: All set for anti-BJP bloc’s first meeting in Trichy
TRICHY: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge and Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin are scheduled to attend VCK’s Vellum Sananayagam conference to be held at Siruganur in Trichy on Friday.
The address of Kharge and Stalin on Friday evening would be an added attraction to the conference, helmed by VCK president and MP Thol Thirumavalavan.
The conference would be the anti-BJP bloc’s first major public meeting in Trichy after the two consecutive visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Trichy on January 2 and January 20 in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
The conference gains significance as the party attempts to rope in senior leaders like D Raja of CPI, Dipankar Bhattacharya of CPI (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation), Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani, MDMK chief Vaiko, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president KS Alagiri, K Balakrishnan of CPM, R Mutharasan of CPI, KM Kader Mohideen of IUML and MH Jawahirullah of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi in the alliance.
