Chennai: City police rescued a rice godown owner who was kidnapped for a 2 lakh ransom by his former employee and two associates near Royapuram on Tuesday. On Monday night, the victim, S Anandkumar, 38, was going home, when he was intercepted by an autorickshaw in the govt Stanley hospital subway. The occupants assaulted him, bundled him into the vehicle and fled. The kidnappers demanded 2 lakh for his release. On instructions of police, the family agreed to pay the ransom. Police rescued Anandkumar and arrested three persons — R Dhanasekar, 31,S Raja, 26, and V Yesudas, 32, in an operation after tracing location of the kidnappers. Two other accomplices managed to flee.
