J Vinodhini, the 23-year-old software engineer who was battling for life for three months after a stalker threw acid at her in Karaikal, died at a hospital here on Tuesday.

CHENNAI: J Vinodhini, the 23-year-old software engineer who was battling for life for three months after a stalker threw acid at her in Karaikal, died at a hospital here on Tuesday. Police arrested her attacker - construction worker Suresh, 29 - after the attack on November 14.
Officials at Aditya Hospital said Vinodhini died of cardiac arrest at 9.10am on Tuesday.

The BTech graduate was blinded in the attack and was combating severe protein loss after sustaining 40% burn injuries. She suffered cardiopulmonary failure twice on Tuesday morning and died following a third cardiac attack.
Plastic surgeon Dr V Jayaraman, who treated Vinodhini after she was referred to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital from Jipmer in Puducherry on November 15, said he had spoken to her earlier on Tuesday. "She appeared to be recovering. But she had a massive cardiac arrest and all attempts to revive her failed," he said.
Vinodhini, who worked for Just Dial in Saidapet, fought for her life with the extraordinary courage she displayed when Suresh threw acid at her. She retaliated by spitting some of the acid back at Suresh when he attacked her in Karaikal at 10.30pm on November 14.
Vinodhini's father V Jayapaul, who works as a security guard in Karaikal, and other members of the family rushed to Chennai.
