Chennai:
Madras high court has directed the
income tax department and the Union ministry of corporate affairs to respond to a plea seeking a probe into alleged material discrepancies in the assets declared by Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister
Udhayanidhi Stalin. The plea alleged that there were discrepancies in the assets declared by him during the 2021 election and for the upcoming 2026 election to the state assembly.
On Wednesday, when the plea moved by R Kumaravel came up for hearing before the first bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan, it ordered notices to the authorities and adjourned the hearing.
