CHENNAI: Greater Chennai Corporation is closed civic complaints on Namma Chennai app with a wrong photo, saying the problems have been resolved, say activists.
R Ramesh, an activist who complained of mosquito-breeding in an open plot opposite his house on Mylapore's Thatchi Arunachalam Street, said the sanitary inspector for ward 124 sent an image of fogging done in another area and a message saying it was attended to.

Ramesh, who sent TOI screenshots of his conversation with the official, said the sanitary inspector admitted the photo was wrongly posted. "He never visited the spot. The mosquito menace still exists and bushes have not been removed. They have put a file photo of some other places and this is not the first instance." City health officer M Jagadeesan said he would look into the issue.
When TOI contacted ward 124 councillor K Vimala on her CUG number, her husband attended the phone and said he had asked officials to visit the original spot and on Saturday evening shared visuals of it being cleared.
Asked why the councillor's husband was attending her CUG number, mayor R Priya said she would talk with the councillor.
On January 17, Ramesh said, he complained about defunct e-toilets on Royapuram's Old Jail Road. The next day, he received a response from ward 52 inspector with the image of another permanent toilet, saying the PGR complaint was closed. "They just want to close the complaint and do not want us to open it again," he said.
Advocate N Vishwanathan of KK Nagar, who faced similar issues two months ago, said random photos were posted to close complaints. "I have stopped using Namma Chennai app and instead using Twitter."
