Good Friday and Easter rush: Southern Railway to run special trains between Tambaram and Tenkasi
CHENNAI: Southern Railway will operate special trains between Tambaram and Tenkasi/Sengottai to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the Good Friday and Easter holidays.
According to a release, No. 06135 Tambaram–Tenkasi superfast special will depart Tambaram at 11.10pm on April 2 (Thursday) and reach Tenkasi at 11am the following day.
In the return direction, No. 06136 Sengottai–Tambaram superfast special will leave Sengottai at 11pm on April 5 (Sunday) and arrive at Tambaram at 10.45am the next day. Both services will run as one-time special trains.
The trains will halt at Chengalpe, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Trichy, Dindigul, Kodaikanal Road, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Satur, Kovilpatti, Tirunelveli and Ambasamudram.
The trains will have a composition of two AC two-tier coaches, two AC three-tier coaches, 10 sleeper class coaches, four general second-class coaches, and two second-class coaches designed to be Divyangjan-friendly.
Advance reservations for No. 06135 opened at 4.30pm on April 1 while bookings for No. 06136 will open at 8am on April 2.
