Gang kills 28-year-old man from Kasimedu, hapless wife looks on

CHENNAI: A six-man gang on Friday night hacked to death a 28-year-old man in front of his wife after stopping his motorcycle near Thiruporur, 45km from Chennai.

“Around 8.30pm on Friday,

was riding his motorcycle with his wife

in pillion, when members of his rival’s gang, who were also on bikes, deliberately coillded with the couple,” a police officer said. “When Ravindran fell, they attacked him with sickles and knives.

The assailants left Ravindran for dead in a pool of blood and sped from the crime scene on their bikes. They threatened onlookers not to try to nab them. On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the government hospital in Chengalpet for postmortem. Malar was in a state of shock after witnessing the murder. Police said the attackers hacked Ravindran on the head and neck.

Police said Ravindran, who was involved in a murder cases reported in Madhavaram and Washermenpet, came out on bail three months ago and was staying with his wife in Thiruporur.
